Recode reader Matt, a college student, writes that he has been using LinkedIn for his job search for the past two years.
But he’s also found that using the company has a big downside: He’s losing the ability to see what people are looking at, which can affect his career.
So he decided to try out the social network and the results are… read more Read more Matt is an English major at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, and has been in the job market for two years and counting.
He’s been applying for several positions and is currently a computer programmer.
He started looking for work in February and after a couple of weeks of searching, he came across an advertisement for a job at a software company that was only looking for “a team of programmers.”
Matt went ahead and applied, which is when the hiring manager told him that he was the only candidate who was looking for a programming position.
Matt said that he’s been using the platform for a year and that it’s “been great.”
He’s still looking for someone, though.
Read More Matt said that the job offer seemed like a good fit, but he was concerned that the company wouldn’t offer the position because it’s not a tech company.
He was told that the only reason it’s offered is because they’ve found it difficult to find people who can work on the projects, according to Matt.
The company didn’t offer any specific examples of how they’ve helped them find candidates, but they did offer an example of how a “smaller team” would help them.
Matt found out that the candidate who had the most experience with code, was offered the position and that they did a lot of work to make sure the candidates were experienced in the field.
“I thought they were super awesome,” Matt said.
“But they were totally incompetent and did not help out at all.
I was shocked that they had to fire me because of my experience.”
Matt found that the candidates who were interviewed had the least experience and that the recruiter told them that their experience was so low that they could not be a good match for him.
When he was told by the recruitor that the people who were being interviewed didn’t have the experience to make him an offer, Matt said, “I feel like I’ve been fired and I’ve never even had a chance to talk to the manager again.
That’s a really shitty experience for a lot.
That was the hardest part.”
Matt told Recode that the person who had most experience didn’t get a second interview and the recruist didn’t provide any other examples of what he would need to bring to the table.
Matt says that the experience gap is “very, very small” and that he feels like the company was trying to use him as an example, which he felt was not helpful.
The recruiter has since apologized, saying that they are sorry that their hiring practices were inappropriate.
He said that they’re looking into how to better meet the needs of the candidate pool, and that their recruitment process will be more transparent.
The Recode survey also found a wide variety of people have experienced some negative interactions with the platform, but not all.
For example, in one case, a candidate said that she was rejected from a job because she didn’t want to use LinkedIn because she couldn’t use the app for a while.
Another person told Recod that he tried using LinkedIn and was rejected for a position because he had no experience in the tech industry.
In a third case, the recruite who was trying out a different position was asked by a recruiter if they were looking for people who “had no experience or were not willing to learn a new skill.”
Recode said that a recruitor had a bad experience with the job application process, saying, “It took me about 10 minutes to get through all the information, but I wasn’t able to find a candidate.”
